Thigpen Named Player of the Month

Tiger-Cats Kick Returner extraordinaire Marcus Thigpen has been named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Month for July.

Thigpen returned three different kicks for touchdowns in the first month of the season. He returned a kickoff and a missed field goal for touchdowns in Week 1 against Winnipeg, and he returned a punt for a touchdown in Week 2 against Calgary.

Thigpen has been one of the brightest spots for the Cats in what has been a rough opening month for the Black & Gold. The team, which many thought would challenge Montreal in the East Division, has faltered, starting the season at 1-4.  The Cats face a very important series of games over the course of the next month and a half.

Thigpen's award comes only a day after Arland Bruce was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Here's hoping the good week for the Tiger-Cats can continue with a win when the Cats host the Blue Bombers this Saturday.
